USF Byrd Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center
The USF Byrd Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center is a large academic center serving much of West and Central Florida including Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando, Manatee, Sarasota, Pinellas, Polk, and Orange Counties. The Parkinson’s Disease Program is comprised of a highly active, nationally-recognized multi-disciplinary patient care team, and with a long history of clinical research and a strong commitment to community outreach.
Established in 1986 as a full-time specialty site to provide focused neurological care, the mission of the Center is to advance knowledge and treatment for Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. Our goals are to provide expert clinical care to patients and caregivers, to teach medical students, residents, and other healthcare providers, and to expand knowledge through research. We develop and evaluate new medical and surgical treatments for Parkinson's Disease and other movement disorders, and hope one day to have a cure.
